Shaping the landscape and lifestyles of people, agriculture has contributed to the islands, especially in Ibiza, a natural heritage, historical and cultural importance. For example, today, since its establishment in 2002, the Ecological Farmers Association of Ibiza and Formentera works to promote organic farming in the islands, training partners and stakeholders and facilitate communication between all those involved in organic food and local administration.
Returning slowly but progressive, the interest in local products and organic is positively influencing the market for such goods.
There is also a growing number of shops dedicated, farms and projects. The islands are an ideal place for new techniques such as permaculture, developed in combination with the traditional wisdom of Ibiza, to a production process more sustainable and healthy food, focusing on real local needs, and can even serve as example, or focus of interest and activity for visitors.
